Field Trips
Kindergarten
During the spring, the kindergarteners hatch eggs and take care of chicks, grow seeds, and learn about farm animals. To culminate these units of study and to celebrate a wonderful school year, the Kinders venture to Suson County Park. Suson Park, located in South St. Louis County, is a working animal farm with fishing, playgrounds, restrooms, and pavilions.

1st Grade
First grade students visit the St. Louis Zoo in the fall to expand their learning on habitats of the world. In the spring, they visit the St. Louis Science Center and Planetarium to deepen their study of the night sky.

2nd Grade
Students travels to Missouri Botanical Gardens in the fall. Students enjoy the beautiful landscape and get to learn about the large variety of plants while walking the trails. They also get to explore the Climatron and Children's Garden. In the spring, second grade learns about various animals and their habitats in the classroom. The class then takes a trip to Grant’s Farm to interact and see these animals in their habitats. They are able to feed the animals, experience one on one encounters, and attend a show to learn more about these special creatures.

3rd Grade
In the fall, students go on a Community Awareness Field Trip, which includes visits to the Monroe County Courthouse, McArthur's Bakery, Cliff Cave Park, & Parker Dairy Farm. Students visit places in all three types of communities (rural, urban, and suburban) to learn different goods and services that are provided. They experience tours and behind the scenes opportunities with each place we visit.
Students to to the Magic House in the spring to learn about how bills become laws in our federal government. They are able to reinforce what we learn about in class on the three branches of government. In addition, they get the opportunity to explore the science related activities with a scavenger hunt.

They listen to a presentation about different types of birds and their adaptations, and then they walk around to view the birds.

5th Grade
During their visit to Camp Ondessonk, students take on adventure, forge bonds, and increase stewardship of God’s gifts by taking a two day, one night trip. Here students take in the beautiful scenery of Southern Illinois, while attending mass, completing obstacle courses, and discovering nature. Faith, science, and friendship will all intertwine during our stay.

6th Grade
Memphis played a significant role in the Civil Rights Movement and music history. Our visit to the National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel and other related sites provide students with valuable insights into this important part of American history. Memphis is also known as the “Home of the Blues” and the “Birthplace of Rock ‘n’ Roll.” Students explore this rich musical history of Memphis by visiting Graceland.

In the spring, the sixth graders focus on art and architecture for their field trip. They visit locations in the local area including The Cathedral Basilica, Basilica of St. Louis, King of France, and Citygarden, an outdoor sculpture park.

The immersion into Chicago’s urban life begins with a commuter train ride to downtown Chicago’s lakefront where views of towering skyscrapers stand grandly along Lake Michigan’s shore. The city’s outstanding and ever-evolving museums of Chicago exemplify the resources and commitment that our country’s third largest city has toward education. Students experience up-close encounters with a diversity of aquatic life at Shedd’s Aquarium, interactive history at Field Museum, and hands-on science experiences at the Museum of Science and Industry. The architectural boat ride on the Chicago River retells the city’s story through its various architectural time pieces. The embodiment of our urban field trip is a pedestrian experience from Millennium Park down the Magnificent Mile. Our 7th grade field trip to Chicago serves as an educational experience that combines cultural immersion, exposure to urban life, historical exploration, appreciation of the arts, science & technology learning, and personal growth opportunities.

Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama, focuses on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) concepts, allowing our students to engage in hands-on learning activities related to space exploration, rocketry, and robotics. Students learn about the history of space exploration, astronaut training, and the challenges of living and working in space through simulations and interactive exhibits. Space Camp emphasizes teamwork and leadership skills as students work together to solve problems and conduct space missions. Participants are encouraged to think critically and solve complex problems, mirroring the challenges faced by real astronauts.
8th Grade
Students explore their local history during the Bi-County Field Trip. Students visit local historical sites allowing them to engage with history in a tangible way, making historical events and places more real and relatable. Our Students gain a deeper appreciation for the cultural heritage of our local area by exploring landmarks such as Palmier and Immaculate Conception cemeteries, Old Valmeyer & New Valmeyer, Salt Lick Trail, Rock City, and Fort de Chartres.

Students visit our State Capitol, Springfield, providing students with the opportunity to learn more about our state government and history. The Springfield area has deep historical significance in relation to Abraham Lincoln. Our visits to sites like the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, the Lincoln Home National Historic Site, the Lincoln Tomb and Lincoln’s New Salem State Historic Site offer insights into the life and legacy of this influential figure in American history.
Washington, D.C. and surrounding areas are the ideal place for our students to learn more about our country’s government, history, culture, and democracy. Our students visit numerous memorials, monuments, churches, cemeteries, battlefields, historical homes, and museums offering a hands-on exploration of our nation’s past and present. Beyond educational goals, our D.C. field trip offers a break from routine, allowing students to enjoy new experiences, learn and have fun together. Our field trip fosters teamwork and cooperation among students while they navigate a new environment together.
