I was born and raised in Belleville, IL. I graduated from St. Augustine of Canterbury Grade School and the Academy of Notre Dame High School. My Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree are in elementary education, both from SIUE.
In 1970, I began my teaching career at Belle Valley Grade School in Belleville; then taught in a special education school district in Portsmouth, VA., while my husband was serving in the U.S. Navy. Moving back to Illinois, I taught at Mulkeytown Grade School (near Christopher, IL) before we moved to Columbia.. I have been teaching third grade here since 1994. Besides teaching, my other ICS duties are : Curriculum committee, Catholic Schools Week chair, ordering and disbursing reading motivation materials, ordering and disbursing resulting rewards, and Faculty rep for the School Board.
My two youngest daughters graduated from ICS. For five years, I enjoyed the friendly and cooperative environment of this school, as well as the academic excellence for my girls as a parent. In 1994 I joined the faculty.
In my free time I enjoy working in my flower gardens. I especially enjoy collecting perennials from family and friends and watching for the seasonal flowers to bloom. I also enjoy spending time with my family, especially my grandchildren. They help me with the gardening tasks!

I was born in Belleville, Il. I attended Catholic Schools in East St. Louis starting in third grade through high school. The early primary years were spent living on a farm in Plainville, Il. No Kindergarten was available to me nor a Catholic grade school. I already knew in second grade I wanted to be a teacher. I had a wonderful second grade teacher.
I graduated from SIU, Edwardsville with a Bachelor of Science degree and a area of interest in Special Education. While working on a masters in Reading, I became a third grade teacher at ICS. The following year, I moved to first grade still at ICS,but only for a semester. My oldest son, Dan, was born. I left full time teaching to raise my family. I enjoyed substitute teaching for many years. When my youngest son was in third grade, I was asked to finish the year at a second grade position in Caseyville IL.. I never finished my masters degree, but I took courses in Real Estate and became a licensed realtor. After the second grade position ended in Caseyville, ICS needed another first grade teacher. I was glad to be chosen and I taught first grade for 25 years. A new opportunity arose and I was asked to teach third grade. Third grade is a fun level too. Much different from the teaching of third grade many years ago. The best thing about ICS is the people. I think of the children and parents as my ICS family.
Achieving the BASIC, ADVANCED, and RENEWAL tiers of Religious Training, I am continuing education for certification renewal and State certification.
I live in Millstadt, IL with my husband. I enjoy many hobbies including art, gardening, water aerobics and fishing. My two sons are married and live in the area. We have a wonderful addition to our family, a beautiful grandson.
