First Grade
Mrs. Sarah Diewald |
My name is Sarah Diewald and I am currently living in Red Bud, Illinois. School has always been important to me and many of the schools I have attended in my life have led me to the career of teaching I have today. My school career began in grade school at St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Red Bud. I then attended Red Bud High School. Looking forward to college and stepping into the real world was not as easy as I thought it would be. I spent my first couple college years close to home at Southwestern Illinois College. When I graduated from SWIC I moved to Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville. This is where I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education.
When my school career had come to an end I found myself looking for the perfect school that I could finally live out my lifelong dream of teaching. When I got a call from ICS four years ago to teach fourth grade I could not be happier. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in fourth grade. From the moment I stepped foot in the building I have been welcomed and supported by staff members as well as students. I love the family environment that is always present to lend a helping hand and I could not ask for a better atmosphere to work in.
During the past four years I have gained a great deal of experience and the honor of enjoying my teaching career. I have received Teacher of the Month and completed Tier I for my Catechist Certification. I have joined veteran teachers on committees such as Catholic Schools Week and Grandparents Day.
When I have a break from teaching I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. Some of my favorite hobbies are going to the movies, shopping, and reading. When I get a chance my favorite place to travel is a warm place where I can spend my time relaxing on a beach.
Mrs. Mandy Borgmeyer |
I lived in South St. Louis and then my family moved to Columbia when I was 5. I attended ICS, Gibault High School, and graduated from Saint Louis University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. I am currently certified in Missouri and Illinois in Early Childhood Education. I am a past recipient of the Edward Jones’ Teacher of the Month at ICS, as well as being awarded the Visionary Award through the Archdiocese of St. Louis. I have taught for 5 and a half years with 5 years serving at ICS. I taught 4th grade one year and am currently in my 4th year in 1st grade. This year I helped organize and plan the All-School Thanksgiving Liturgy for First Grade. I also serve as a Eucharistic Minister at All-School Masses. In previous years, I have served on the Catholic School’s Week Committee Amazing Race Committee. I was a Latchkey teacher and an Ecybermission sponsor. My favorite thing about ICS is the family atmosphere and family involvement. I love getting to know each family and learning what amazing talents they bring to our school. We work in such a welcoming, caring place because of the dedication of our families. The greatest accomplishment of my life was adopting my son, Jack. Parenthood is amazing!
